We’ve used Opendoor twice—once for an estate sale where they actually paid us about 20% more than the house was worth, and the second time for our main home. Before deciding, we talked with a realtor who gave us a market estimate with the usual caveats. I figured it would take at least six months to sell traditionally, and we’d probably end up giving up 10–15% in concessions and commissions.

Opendoor offered us about 10% less, but all we had to do was pack up and leave. For us, it was an easy decision. I do think Opendoor’s business model is flawed and their future doesn’t look great, but I was more than happy to take their investor’s cash and move on.
