I live in Arizona and hired 72Sold to sell my home, and it has been nothing short of a nightmare. My agent has been completely incompetent from the start.

First, he took my home off the MLS as soon as the first offer came in, eliminating the possibility of backup offers. Then he told me I had to pay the buyer’s agent 3% (even though I offered 2%), claiming that if I didn’t, she probably wouldn’t even show her client the counteroffer. On top of that, he pushed me to pay for connecting an auxiliary building to the main septic system to make it a livable space for the buyers—something I refused to do.

When I tried to escalate the situation, I emailed the VP of the company. It took three days before the broker finally contacted me. The closing date was changed, but the broker assured me we were good to close on December 13. Based on that, I scheduled movers, rented a truck, signed documents on the 11th, packed everything on the 12th, and was already on the road.

Here’s where it got even worse: the final walkthrough was scheduled for the day of closing. The broker told me it wouldn’t change anything, but instead the buyers demanded that I pay to remove pre-existing structures—like fencing and a chicken coop/run—at a cost of $1,600, even though they had previously agreed to take the chickens. Now the buyers are refusing to sign the contract unless I pay for these removals.

I’ve already made repairs as required in the contract, which came out of escrow, yet my agent has done nothing but side with the buyers. This was supposed to be a straightforward cash offer and a fast sale, but instead, it has turned into a legal mess. At this point, I believe what’s happening is illegal, and I am seeking legal advice on how to proceed.
